Well, we are happy to report that two of the babies are healthy, and one of those babies-baby B- is a boy! Baby A has taken up all of the area at the bottom of my uterus, and the doctor says that baby already does not like to share! They were both very cute, we even got to see Baby B open and close his fingers, almost like he was waving to us!
Baby C, Mom and Dad are in need of some serious prayer. The doctor showed us that Baby C, despite a strong heartbeat, has a distended bladder and that there is very little fluid in his/her sack. Given the size of the bladder, and the fact that the baby is not able to empty it by himself, the doctors did their best to explain our "options." Option 1-Selectively Reduce Baby C next week. Translation, inject Potassium Chloride into the fetus, stopping all development and heart beat and allow the dead fetus to be reabsorbed into the body. There are many reasons that Adrian and I would not do that, most of which being our faith in God, also, it poses an 8% chance of terminating the entire pregnancy. Option 2: Baby C, according to the doctor, will grow along with his siblings until the delivery day. However, because of the size of the bladder, the lungs will not have a chance to ever develop properly. The baby can survive inside me, but will die when the doctors take the babies out. There is no real risk of allowing the baby to grow, the baby will feel no pain, and poses no threat to the other babies.
Our next appointment is July 10. We will have a longer, more in depth, ultrasound. Our prayer is for a miracle. We believe that God can heal this baby and allow it to grow and function properly. We are asking that everyone who reads this, please pray for our baby. We know that whether or not the baby survives, we will always be a family of five.
Thank you!
